The Collation of results at the INEC collation centre in Owerri have been marred by Chao, as PDP Chieftain Barrister Uche Onyeagucha stormed the collation centre tearing result sheets and threatening savages as he feared Action Alliance party was taking the lead.
Onyeagucha who was rattled with the number of votes turned in by Ideato South LGA of the State in favour of AA, violently tore up the result sheets containing the figures from Ideato North and other LGAs, even when other party agents insisted that the result should be announced, citing a similar occurrence at Mbaise LGA .
The reasons behind this undemocratic and illegal political approach, according to observers, is a plot to create Chaos in at the Coalition centre to shortchange Action Alliance party Candidate, Uche Ugumba Nwosu in his strong holds, which prompted creating controversies on live Channels TV broadcast.
Observer report that a scuffle ensured when Onyeagucha, seeing that the plans of his Party, to subvert the wishes of Imo people, was vehemently resisted, he tore up the result sheets. In a swift reaction, another opposing party agents rushed to the high table and tore result sheets of other LGAs that had earlier been collated
However, reports from observations at the centre have also shown that the Peoples Democratic Party have purportedly manipulated the elections results in Aboh Mbaise, with a score margin of over 8,000 votes, which is parallel to total amount of registered votes in the LGA, suggesting over voting and manipulations by PDP agents in conjunction with INEC officials.
Consequently, the inability of the PDP candidate to meet the constitutional requirement of the Commission of a 25% visibility in two thirds (18) of the LGA which PDP has only 9 out of 27 LGAs, may have also prompted the sponsorship of this undemocratic move to disrupt the exercise by the party thugs led by the Former Federal House Member and PDP Agent Uche Onyeagucha
Amidst the controversies, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof Francis Otunta, after consultations and critical investigations insisted on announcing the election results from those controversy challenged LGAs.
The police have tried to manage the situation by arresting the two persons involved, as others scouted out for safety and security.
